Who are we?
We are a community of Jesus-followers, centered in the Horsepasture community, dedicated to glorifying God and fulfilling the mission He has called us to. We are not affiliated with any denomination but are associated with a fellowship of churches that are dedicated to biblical Christianity. Our church is called a “Christian” church – not because we claim to be the only Christians, but because we want to be known as Christians only. HCC is a multi-generational church that is passionate about putting the Lord first and helping people of all ages know Him better. Wherever you are in your relationship with Jesus, our goal is to help you take steps to draw you closer to Him.
What are we about?
We have a concise way to describe our understanding of the mission God has called HCC to:
Sharing the Gospel. Making Disciples. Loving People.
The Gospel is the announcement that God has made a way to be in His family forever through Jesus Christ. We believe that sharing and explaining the Gospel is our greatest responsibility.
In sharing the Gospel, our goal is to be making disciples. A disciple is a committed follower of Jesus Christ. Being a disciple is a life-long commitment that is marked by dedication to Jesus and His teachings, and it is our responsibility to help people grow to be the best disciples they can be. Mature disciples nurture others to become disciples.
Sharing the Gospel and making disciples is the direct result of our commitment to be loving people. Jesus tells us that the greatest commandment is, “To love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.” Then he tells us that there is a second commandment that is essentially linked to this first one: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Whether you are already a Jesus-follower trying to deepen your faith, or you haven’t accepted God’s invitation into His family through Jesus yet, our goal is to love you well. Loving well means that we aren’t concerned with where you’ve been or even where you are right now. Our concern is where you are going.
God has invited us home to eternally enjoy a place in His family. As we faithfully follow Jesus on our way there, we hope you will join us.
